Henry Bockstoce

Colossal, show stopping flowers!  Flowers are pleasingly organized, making this an extremely impressive, worthwhile variety to grow. Petals are of extremely heavy substance and densely packed and have a terrific glossy sheen. This is quite a tall plant, perhaps best suited for placement in landscape a touch further behind where most peonies would stand. Henry Bockstoce also occupies a unique position on the calendar, being one of the last red doubles to flower; this is a choice selection to extend the bloom season for fans of red peonies in particular. With exceptional cut flowers rounding out its already long list of positive attributes, it is easy to see why Henry Bockstoce has remained so popular since its introduction in 1955.
