Old Faithful

'Old Faithful' is a fourth generation hybrid of which the parentage is not exactly known. It seems very likely that she at least has blood of a P. lactiflora- and a P. officinalis-variety running through her veins. The generally accepted understanding that each hybrid is stronger than her parents goes quadruple here! An unmatched sturdy bush, extremely healthy appearance with her rockhard green leaves and mega-sized flowers. The buds of these divine red peony are like from a rose. When these unfold, a breathtaking, full double flower with velvety flower petals of heavy substance appears. Yellow anthers can be visible, these will disappear more and more as the plant matures. Many professional growers consider 'Old Faithful' to be thé red peony cut flower of the future. Of course only time will tell, but it is a fact that this is the latest flowering true red peony and her sturdiness is truely unmatched. The APS has officially recognized the grandeur of this variety as well by awarding her with the APS Gold Medal in 1997. 'Old Faithful' is a variety with up to date limited availability throughout the world. Official registration recently finally got changed from 'Ole Faithful' to the much more logical spelling 'Old Faithful'.
